Abstract:
Normal saline,γ L glutamyl L dopa at 25 and 100 μg/kg·min were infused iv each for 60 min in control rabbits and rabbits with doxorubicin induced congestive heart failure.Mean arterial pressure,heart rate and plasma dopamine concentrations remained unchanged in both groups.Plasma L glutamyl dopa levels reached in the two groups were similar.Urine dopamine excretion and renal dopamine content were markedly increased after γ L glutamyl L dopa infusion.Moreover,γ L glutamyl L dopa was to a less degree endorenally converted into dopamine in the heart failure rabbits than in the controls.Therefore,rabbits with doxorubicin induced congestive heart failure exhibit a defective renal production of dopamine,which may contribute to renal vasoconstriction and water and sodium retention in heart failure.
