Abstract:
In the present study, a rabbit model of hyperlipidemia and atherosclerosis(AS) was made and the effects of essential oil of garlic (EOG) on blood thromboxane/prostacyclin (TXA2/PGI2 ), cholesterol (Ch ), LDL-cholesterol (LDLc ), apolipoprotein B (Apo B) and the effects on lipoperoxidation and atherosclerotic plaque were investigated. The results indicated that EOG could inhibit the increases in blood levels of TXA2/PGI2 ,Ch,LDLc,Apo B and malondialdehyde (MDA) in AS rabbits and could prevent experimental atherosclerosis.
