Abstract:
5o cases of moderate or mild hypertensive patients and 10 normotensive controls have been examined by a combined OGTT and exercise test to study the characteristics of glucose metabolism. Serum glucose levels were observed serially during the exercise. The results showed a higher glucose level and longer glucose recovery time in the hypertensive group under the glucose load, suggesting that potential glucose metabolism defect may exist in hypertensives. The exercise glucose peak concentration and the glucose recovery time after exercise may be two sensitive indices of glucose metabolism abnormalities.
