Abstract: Cardiac lesions were observed morphologically in 55 stroke-prone renovascular hypertensive rats （RHRsp ）. Left ventricular hypertrophy and small coronary arterial lesions in myocardium were discovered in all the RHRsp, with is no atherosclerosis in large coronary arteries. On the basis of left ventricular hypertrophy,myocardial infarction occurred spontaneously in 41. 8% of RHRsp. These results suggest cardiac hypertrophy may play important roles in the ischemic cardiac lesions of hypertensive subjects.
