Abstract:
Using two-dimensional echocardiography and Doppler ultrasound techniques, the acute homodynamic effects after metoprolol were assessed in 30 patients with stage Ⅰ
Ⅱ essential hypertbnsion. Metoprolol decreases heart rate, systolic and diastolic blood presure. IncreaseS in arterial compliance and decreases in cardiac output, indexes of cardiac output, ejection fraction, shortened fraction (P < 0. 01 ) were also shown. The peak velocity of early filling (E) and the time velocity intergrate of transmitral flow (EI) were increased. The peak velocity of late filling (A). the late time velocity intergrateof transmitral now(AI),and the ratio of A/E,AI/TI were decreased. Conclusion: after .administration of once oral dose of metoprolol, the left ventricular systolic function was attenuated, and diastolic function improved.
