Abstract:
Responsive rate and safety of amlodipine andnifedipine were compared in patients with mild or moderate essential hypertension. The results showed that the antihypertensive actions of amlodipine were slow and long lasting. Itsadverse effects related to vasodilation were fewer than those ofnifedipine. No hypertension rebound effects was found whendrug is suddenly stopped and no neuroendocrine adverse effectwas found. It is suggested that amlodipine is not only a safe.effective, but also a promising antihypertensive agent.
