Abstract:
Objective To observe the distribution of polymorphism in angiotensin I converting enzyme gene in normal population in Shanghai Methods An insertion/deletion (I/D) polymorphoism in angiotensin I converting enzyme gene was detected by a modified PCR using three primers in 478 normal people from Shanghai Results In normal population from Shanghai the genotype frequency of II was 47 4%, ID was 43 51%, DD was 8 79% The frequency of three genotypes was similar to those reported from Singapore, Japan, Taiwan and Hong Kong, However the frequency of DD the was study (8.79%) is siginficantly lower than the results by British and African \ Conclusion ACE gene polymorphism varies among different races and people from different regions
