Correlation of Angiotensin Converting Enzyme Genes Type with the Effect Antihypertensive treatment by Captopril

Abstract: Objective To study the correlation of angiotensin converting enzyme genes type with the effect of antihypertension treatment by captopril. Methods Angiotensin converting enzyme genes I/D polymorphism were examined by polymerase chain reaction(PCR) in 133 patients with essential hypertension. Ambulatory blood pressure was measured before and after taking captopril 25 mg bid for 4 weeks. Results The reduction in 24 hSBP,dSBP,and nSBP in ID genetype was greater than that in II or DD genetype( P <0 05). Conclusion Captopril is may be more appropriate for the hypertensive patients with fit ACE I/D gene type.
