Abstract:
Aim To investigate the effect of family hypertensive history of hypertensive on blood pressure, insulin resistance and atherogenic risk factors in the second and third generation relatives. Methods In 858 individuals, including 187 hypertensives and 99 subjects with normal blood pressure together with thier spouses and children,in 286 families, blood pressure(BP) were measured, glucose(FBG),total cholesterol(TC),Triglyceride(TG),HDL cholesterol(HDL c),insulin(INS),fibrinogen(FB) were determined. Insulin sentitivety index (IAI) were calculated base on fasting plasma glucose and insulin concentraction. Influence of family hypertensive history of blood pressure and insulin resistance related parameters in the second and third generation relatives were analyzed. Results The IAI level in second generation with positive family history (FH\++) was similar in the subjects with or without hypertension, however, the IAI of them was only of 2/3 compared to the persons with negative family history (FH\+-). Regardless of blood pressure, the FSG , TC, TG, and FB were all higher and HDL c lower in FH\++2nd generation subjects than in subjects with FH\+-. While the FH\++3rd generation relatives showed same results as that in 2nd generation the IAI was lowered to 4/5 level of FH\+- subjects . Conclusion The inherited factors of hypertension could be transferred to 2nd and 3rd generation offspring. Regardless the high blood pressure was expressed or not, the insulin resistance and related metabolic changes were inherited, suggesting insulin resistance was the main inherited factors.
