Abstract:
Objective To investigate the risk stratification of hypertension and incidence of cardiocerebrovascular comorbidities in patients with primary aldosteronism(PA). Methods The clinical data of 195 consecutive inpatients with PA in Fuwai Hospital from March 2010 to March 2014 were collected and analyzed retrospectively. Based on2010 Chinese Hypertension Guidelines, the risk stratification of hypertension and incidence of cardiovascular comorbidities(coronary heart disease, congestive heart failure, atrial fibrillation and stroke)were assessed. The comparison of clinical characteristics was carried out between the patients with and without these cardiocerebrovascular comorbidities. Results 83.6%(163/195)of all patients included were categorized as high risk or very high risk. The ovrerall incidence of cardiovascular comorbidities was 26.2%(51/195),thereof coronary heart disease:13.3%(26/195),congestive heart failure:2.6%(5/195),atrial fibrillation:3.6%(7/195)and stroke:9.2%(18/195).The age, hypertension duration, body mass index, blood urea nitrogen, serum creatinine, hyperlipidemia and diabetes were higher in patients with comorbidities than those in patients without comorbidities(all P <0.05).Conclusion The majority of PA patients were categorized as high risk or very high risk according to the risk stratification of hypertension, and cardiocerebrovascular comorbidities were not unusual. It could be of special importance for early detection and treatment of PA.
