Abstract:
Objective To investigate the correlation of annual systolic blood pressure variability(ASBPV)with orthostatic hypotension(OH). Methods The first, second and third health examinations of employees in the Kailuan Group were performed in 2006-2007,2008-2009 and 2010-2011 respectively. Subjects aged over 60 years old was selected to monitor the supine and standing blood pressure with random sampling according to the propotion of 25%from employees received the third health examination.Finally,2050 participants met the inclusion criteria and with sufficient data were included in the statistical analysis.ASBPV was calculated by standard deviation of mean systolic blood pressure(SBP)measured in 2006-2007,2008-2009 and 2010-2011.Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to analyze the influence of different levels of ASBPV on OH.Results There were 1385 males and 665 females with an average age of 67.5years old included. The observation population was divided into three groups according to tertile of ASBPV(≤6.34,6.34-≤12.41 and >12.41 mm Hg). With the increase of ASBPV,the prevalence of OH increased(18.9%,20.2% and 24.9%,P=0.017).Multiple Logistic regression analysis showed that after adjusting for age, gender and other risk factors, compared to ASBPV in tertile 1,ASBPV in tertile 3was a risk factor for OH with an ORvalue of 1.37(95% CI1.03-1.81). Conclusion ASBPV is positively correlated with OH.
