Role of high-density lipoprotein receptor-scavenger receptor class B type Ⅰ in sepsis

Abstract: Low high-density lipoprotein(HDL) contributes to the occurrence of coronary heart disease, partly due to a decrease in HDL-mediated reverse cholesterol transport. Scavenger receptor class type BⅠ(SR-BⅠ) is a HDL receptor which plays a key role in mediating HDL cholesterol transport. Recent studies have found that SR-BⅠ played a very important protective role in sepsis. We summarize the role of SR-BⅠ in sepsis which may provide insight into the study of coronary heart disease, considering that the similarity in inflammatory response between coronary heart disease and sepsis.
