Abstract:
Aim\ To explore the association between genetic factor of hypertension and insulin resistance as well as other metabolic disorders.\ Methods\ 40 pedigrees including 223 direct relatives, 158 individuales(54 hypertensives and 104 normotensives) in 25 hypertension prone pedigrees(HF), 65 individuals in normotensive pedigrees(NF), were recruited from Shijingshan District,Beijing.\ Metabolic factors of members in HF were compared with those in NF.\ Results\ The subjects in HF were divided into hypertensive group(HFH) and normotensive group(HFN).\ No significant difference was found in terms of BMI between HFN and NF group.\ However, after adjustment for age and sex, plasma uric acid(UA),TG,log TG,TC/HDL C, fasting plasma insulin(IN) and log IN were significantly higher in HFH and HFN groups than those in NF, but there were no significant difference between HFH and HFN except for insulin level.\ Further adjusting for age, sex and BMI, only UA, TC/HDL C and log In remained significantly higher in HFH and HFN than in NF, but no significance were found between HFH and HFN groups.\ Conclusion\ These results indicated that all subjects with genetic factor of hypertension, whether high blood pressure has developed or not, tend to have insulin resistance and metabloc disorders, which may precede the onset of established essential hypertension and overweight.
