Effects of Essential Oil of Garlic on TXA₂/PGI₂ ,LPO in Experimental Atheroscle-rosis

Abstract

In the present study, a rabbit model of hyperlipidemia and atherosclerosis（AS） was made and the effects of essential oil of garlic （EOG） on blood thromboxane/prostacyclin （TXA2/PGI2 ）, cholesterol （Ch ）, LDL-cholesterol （LDLc ）, apolipoprotein B （Apo B） and the effects on lipoperoxidation and atherosclerotic plaque were investigated. The results indicated that EOG could inhibit the increases in blood levels of TXA2/PGI2 ,Ch,LDLc,Apo B and malondialdehyde （MDA） in AS rabbits and could prevent experimental atherosclerosis.
