Relationship between Seven Elements in Serum and Blood Pressure in Seven Chinese Minorities

  • The trace elements Zn. Cu, Fe and ordinary elements K, Na, Ca, Mg in serum of stroke-high risk patients in seven minorities in China were determined with GGX-Ⅱ atomic absorption spectrophotometer and flame photometer. It was found that the contents of Zn, Fe,Na,Mg,and Na/K, Zn/Cu in high incidence areas of hypertension (HP-H ) were significantly higher than those in low incidence areas of hypertension (HPL) and those in controls, while K,Ca,Cu,Ca/Mg were significantly lower than those in HP-L and controls. There was a significantly positive correlation between Zn, Fe, Na/K and BP,but a significantly negative correlation between K,Ca,Cu , Ca/Mg and BP. It is suggested that the changes in Fe,Na,Zn, Ca are closely related with BP.
