Multicenter Parallel Study of Amlodipine Versus Nitrendipine in Treatment Essential Hypertension

    Abstract
  • In a multicenter, randomized l sing1e blind and para11e1 study, 488 patients with essential hypertension were completed 4 week t1’eatment with amlodipine 0r nitrendipine. It showed that the response rates of amlodipine were 90. 4% and it was higher than that of nitrendipine. Its adverse effets were fewer than those of nitrendipine. In conclusi0n,amlodipine is a safe and effective antihypertensive agent. Its once daily （5 1Omg） dosage makes it very c0nvenient for patients.
