Aldosterone Synthase Gene Polymorphisms and Left Ventricular Hypertrophy in Hypertensive Patients
-
Abstract
Objective To study the relationship of gene polymorphism of aldosterone synthase CYP11B2(-344C/T)and left ventricular hypertrophy in hypertensive patients. Methods The genotype of CYP11B2 was monitored by polymerase chain reaction (PCR-RFLP) in 420 hypertensive. LVDd, LVPWT and INSTd of left ventricular were detected by echocardio graphy. Results The genotype frequence rate of TT,CT,CC and allele frequency distribution had no significant difference in left ventricular hypertrophy and non-left ventricular hypertrophy(P>0.05); the plasma aldosterone levels in LVH group were higher than in NLVH group(156.95±47.55 vs 146.33±45.29,P<0.05); the odds ratio for left ventricular hypertrophy was higher corresponding with the aldosterone levels. Conclusion No assoeiation between aldosterone synthase gene polymorphisms and LVH was found. The plasma levels of aldosterone may be related to LVH in hypertensive patients.
