Relationship Between PPAR γ2 Gene Pro12Ala Polymorphism Hypertension and Blood Lipids

  • Objective Relationship between peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor(PPAR) γ-2 gene Pro12Ala polymorphism and hypertension, polymorphism and blood lipids were studied. Methods PPAR γ-2-Pro12Ala gene variant was detected using polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism(PCR-RFLP) and direct sequencing in 112 healthy controls and 125 hypertensives. Results The distribution of genotype frequencies and allele frequencies of PPAR γ-2 gene-Pro12Ala polymorphism in hypertensives was similar to that in controls. The Pro12Ala variant was not associated with hypertension. However, the level of LDL-cholesterol was significantly higher in PA/AA genotype (3.53±0.59) mmol/L than that in PP genotype (2.47±0.45) mmol/L, (P<0.05). Conclusion In Hubei Han population, Pro12Ala polymorphism of PPAR γ-2 gene is associated with dyslipidemia in hypertensives.
