Abstract
Objective To investigate the prevalence of hypertension and population blood pressure levels in Hani in Yunnan province. Methods According to Manual for National Sampling Survey on hypertension in 1991, 3828 Hani residents aged more than 15 years in Honghe County, Yuanyang County and Lvchun County were investigated and their blood pressure measured with standardized methods under quality control. Results Five hundred thirty-six hypertensive patients were found. The crude prevalence of hypertension was 13.98 percent in Hani tribe in Yunnan, which was 12.66 percent after standardization. Systolic and diastolic blood pressure averaged at 120.16 mmHg and 76.98 mmHg(male:120/77 mmHg, female 113/72 mmHg). Prevalence rate of hypertension was higher than that in 1991(12.6 vs 4.35). Prevalence of hypertension in males was higher than that in females and it increased more quickly in those beyond 35 years old. Conclusion The hypertension in Hani tribe in Yannan province was increased sharply during the part decede which may be attributed to the improvement of living condition.
