One-week Blood Pressure Changes Rhythm

  • ObjectiveTo study one-week BP changes rhythms and its clinical significance in people in Aden Yemen.MethodsOne-week ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) was performed in healthy subjects (n=29) and patients with hypertention (n=15).The incidence of acute stroke on corresponding weekdays in 70 hypertensive patients was analyzed.ResultsThe ABP changes in one week in both healthy and hypertensive objects had two troughs (Monday and Friday) and two peaks (Saturday and Wednesday).The fluctuation of blood pressure in a week in hypertensive patients was greater than that in controls.The prevalence of stroke events on weekdays was related to the week rhythm of ABPM.ConclusionRhythmic alteration was detected in a week.The incidence of stroke attack in one week was manifested in correlated with week rhythms of ABPM.Blood pressure peak days may have important clinical significance in preventing hypertension and its complications.
